Abstract
An ERC-20 balance is inert. It sits in a mapping and waits. To give a token any behavior of its own, builders have always had to move it somewhere else, into a stake, a wrapper, an escrow, and a token never saw its own market, because that market lived in a different contract.
GRAV-20 collapses that distance. The market lives in the token's own Uniswap v4 hook, and the rules act directly on raw, sellable balances. Above a floor, your balance is a body in a gravitational field. It earns real ETH streamed by mass, it pulls in near-peer bodies, and it only ever deflates. Nothing is staked. You can sell any second.
1 · GRAV-20, the gravitational standard
GRAV-20 is a thin set of rules layered on a standard ERC-20. Three of them run automatically, driven by trading volume through the v4 hook:
- Mass. Your balance is your mass. Above the floor it is a body and a first-class participant in the field.
- Yield. A share of every trade's ETH fee streams to bodies in proportion to their mass.
- Gravity. Larger bodies pull mass from smaller near-peers, capped, and a portion of every pull burns.
Everything the field does is emitted as events, so the full state of the dish is reconstructable on-chain with no indexer.
2 · The body
When your balance first crosses the floor, a body is born. It records its peak mass, the moment of its birth, and the mass it has lost over its life. A newborn body is shielded for a short window so it cannot be touched before it has settled.
A body is not a position you open. It is the balance itself. Holding is orbiting, and selling closes the body the instant the balance drops back below the floor. There is no NFT to lock and no deposit to withdraw, though a body can mint a permanent on-chain war-record whenever its holder wants the collectible.
3 · Real ETH, by mass
Every swap through the pool pays a fee on the ETH side. The majority of that fee streams to living bodies in proportion to their mass, settled with magnified-dividend accounting so a body's claim is exact and accrues from its first second.
This is a native ETH yield. It is paid in ETH, never in more of the token's own supply, and it is claimable at any time. A larger body has a deeper well and takes a larger share of the stream, which is the same rule that governs the pull.
4 · Accretion
Trade volume is the field's heartbeat. On each swap the hook advances a cursor through the bodies and finds an eligible prey: a body past its shield, below its loss cap, and within the Roche band of a larger near-peer. The larger body is the predator.
A slice of the prey's mass is pulled toward the predator. Part of that slice reaches the predator; the rest radiates away and is burned. The selection is cursor-driven, so it is un-aimable: no one chooses who is pulled, and the field moves on its own.
- A body never loses more than 30% of its peak mass over its entire life.
- A newborn is protected by its shield.
- Every pull removes mass from circulation. The field only deflates.
5 · Supernova
Gravity has a limit. When a body grows past the mass ceiling, set as a fraction of supply, it goes supernova. The body sheds the mass above the ceiling plus a penalty, all of it burned. Radiation pressure, in token terms.
The ceiling makes the biggest position the least stable one. A body cannot quietly absorb the whole field; the closer it gets, the harder the field pushes back, and the more supply it burns on the way.
6 · The token
$MASS is the unit of the field. Supply is fixed at 100,000 and the full supply is paired into a Uniswap v4 pool at launch. There is no presale and no privileged mint after deployment. A one-way gate lets the pool be seeded before the public can trade, and from the moment trading opens the rules run on their own.
The hook charges a single fee on every swap and splits the ETH side between the bodies' yield stream and a small operating share. Because supply only ever falls, through accretion and supernova, the float tightens with every block of volume.
7 · The constants
The field's behavior is set by a handful of constants, public and readable on-chain:
The dish is open. Everything above runs the moment a body crosses the floor.
